NKF
you've probably all heard about it... NKF CEO T.T. Durai being faced the boldest challenge of stepping down as CEO of NKF.. some even say that after all his years of contribution 2 the NKF, stepping down is the best thing he can ever do 4 the charity. Based on reports i heard, Mr Durai was very committed and he gave his life 4 NKF. How true that is, only Mr Durai knows that.
Day by day, as i type, there r ppl withdrawing their GIRO deductions channelled 2wards the NKF. one might wonder why? i wonder why.. reading the reports i see that the reason is because the CEO is earning s$600,000 a year including his dunno how many month bonus, wadeva perks and incentives. please, that is an average of s$50,000 a month. man, u gotta admit thats a hell of a lot of cash.. to date, 3,800+ have withdrawn GIRO donations and 21,000+ signed an online petition 4 Mr Durai 2 step down..
one thing i have always been wondering is, why do so many celebs and handfuls of emcees, put their heart and soul and time all just for a 2 hour show... u gotta admit that it is a bit ridiculous 4 a celeb 2 do so.. and i believe that the celebrities r being paid.. maybe not as much as wad they can command, but im certain that they do get a sum. in fact, i heard that they do get paid b4, but cant remember the source of that information.
u often hear this phrase mentioned in NKF charity shows... "All in the name of Charity".... well, please.. i put it 2 u, define CHARITY?? is charity a 100% non-profitable organisation made up of volunteers funded by the government and subsided through the governments aids? so if it is a non profit organisation, tell me who has been paying Mr Durai's yearly income of S$600K?? is the government so rich enough 2 fork out a huge sum of salary 4 juz one man alone?
Personally, i have been quite bothered by the staff of NKF, not all staff, juz a small handful of executives who r in charge of admin matters and make phone calls out 2 students like me and others... asking us if we would like 2 receive a NKF donation card envelope 2 ask around 4 donations. they also claimed that they got my contact thru a reconmendation from "somewhere", i cant remember where. but what made things reali a disgrace was that they would call once a week or fortnight for a period of a month or two, juz to ask me 2 accept their card, request for address, procedure on card handling, checking if card has been sent, follow up on progress.. well please i beg u in return.. stop BUGGING ME!!! during those 1 month or so, i felt bugged at by a pool of staff from the NKF.
But at the same time, why are some Singaporeans who withdraw donations letting a problem and conspiracy among the management take effect amongst the many needy patients out there who need transplants, donors, dialysis sessions, therapy sessions etc suffer or face a lack or shortage. i feel that what should be done now is 4 the NKF to be transparent with their fund channeling.. where and what the money goes to and for what purposes.
As i read testimonies and accounts in the papers of ppl constantly donating 2 what had seemed a good cause despite their small amounts of revenue, i feel vexed.
Online petitioner Bruce claimed he had helped the NKF in numerous charitable ways and at one point of his life he was donating $25 out of his $340 NS salary to the NKF. and i can accept it if Bruce is angry with where most ppl believe his money is going to.
How much of a percentage of donations r being channelled to the staff and workers of NKF? and how much of a percentage has been channelled to Mr Durai in particular? and what percentage has been set aside 4 patients?
It's sad to hear accounts of NKF rejecting entries of the hopeful in need 2 get a subsidy or some benefits from the NKF and eventually passed away.
Right now, I am not on anyone's side, but I personally feel that the best thing which can be done in the meantime is for the NKF to provide a 100% true consolidated report of their funding situation and where the money has been dispersed to. then the test will be placed on Singaporean on whether they do wanna continue donating generously despite how positive or negative the report turns out to be.
